December 6, 2010: Christmas Snowglobe

Pin It Now! DON'T FORGET ABOUT MY BLOG CANDY! :)

I love snowglobes, and I have always dreamed about making them. Now I can! I saw the instructions online somewhere (I can never remember where I see ideas; I always intend to write the information down, but I never seem to remember).

I know it's hard to see the image; although there isn't any water, the glitter snow static clung to the acetate image. It's actually the retired "Sleigh Bells Ring" stamped in Staz-On. I colored a few areas in with SU's markers, but since it's acetate they didn't seem to stay colored very well. :)

The top is a glass ornament and the base is a small olive can. (Jeff had to "man up" and eat the olives for me since I can't stand them, but I'm sure it wasn't too hard. He loves olives!) I glued the ornament to the can with Crystal Effects, and the chunky glitter is just some I had on hand.

The base is covered with a scrap of burgundy cardstock edged by the Scallop Trim Border Punch. The wheel is Music Notes on Very Vanilla. For the central embellishment I used the Scallop Trim Corner Punch in Very Vanilla topped with the 1 3/8 square punch. I was pleased to find it mats perfectly! The flower is the Five Petal Punch and the button is from SU's Sherbet collection, currently available for a SMOKING deal on Stampin' Up's clearance rack. I didn't want to try to find some thread, so I threaded a one millimeter wide strip of the burgundy through the button holes. Finally, the ribbon is Pear Pizzaz stitched poly ribbon - my new favorite!! I can't even tell you how lovely the new stitched ribbon is. Check out my Shares (Top Right of my blog) for a good deal on this ribbon in all the trendy new "in colors."

Thanks for sharing my snowglobe excitement. :)
