October 2, 2010: All Buttoned Up for PPA 62

Pin It Now! I'm baaack!!! SO thankful to have rejoined the land of the living. I hope I never have to go through a tooth issue like that again. :)

I'm really excited about the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #62. Much like the Simplicity Blog, their rules always state Clean and Simple; a concept I struggle with.

This week the challenge was to use buttons. I love my button jar. :) As a child, one of my favorite rainy day toys was Mom's button jar. I would run my hands through the buttons, picking out the ones I recognized from my own discarded clothing and learning about which ones came from my grandmother's jacket or my grandad's military uniform. When I got married, Mom scooped out some of her treasured buttons to start my own button jar. It's one of my prized possessions.

I chose to use a Sizzix leaves die cut with a few tiny Prima flowers dotted with pearl centers. I know pearls probably push the Clean and Simple concept, but I loved the look. And what are flowers without a honeybee? This one is from Stampin Up's Bloomin' Beautiful. (I've used the bee from that set dozens of times...at some point I probably ought to ink up one of the other stamps in the set!)
