Finally back to this wedding album.  :)  I enjoyed these pages, and they were quite simple.  I just accented the retired Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper backgrounds with curving borders of retired Orchid Opulence, and added photo mats of Certainly Celery matted on Pretty in Pink.

For my butterflies, I used the Beautiful Wings embosslit and more retired Orchid Opulence Cardstock, and accented each with pearls.

The beautiful layered flowers came right from the DSP - just cut out and layered with Stampin' Dimensionals.  The centers were also punched from the DSP and topped with plenty of tiny pearls.  Easy peasy!

This layout was actually a really simple one.  I made two page bases of Chocolate Chip and Certainly Celery, and covered the seams with strips of So Saffron punched with the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border and accented it with retired Orchid Opulence punched with the Scallop Edge Punch.  Instant fancy seam! 

I fussy cut these images from the retired Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper to lay over the Certainly Celery panels, making it look like DSP.  I wanted some butterflies in my homemade DSP so I stamped the fun butterfly image from one of my favorite retired stamp sets from Sale-a-Bration a couple years ago - Bliss - and punched them out with the Butterfly Punch.

I kept my photo mats simple - just more Shades of Spring DSP - and matted the smaller two on Pretty in Pink cardstock with pearls adorning the larger ones.

For these pages, I used bases pieced from my retired Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper and added strips of So Saffron as a base for my retired Orchid Opulence, Certainly Celery and Pretty in Pink photo mats.  For journaling, I added die cuts from my Floral Frames Framelits in Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery, and watermarked each with Versamark using the Daydream Medallions stamp set.

For my butterflies, I used my retired God's Beauty stamp set in Jet Black Staz-On (one of the very, very few touches of black in the entire album) on So Saffron and accented them in tiny pearls.  Before gluing each one down, I stamped the antenna from Papillon Potpourri in Basic Gray on my background DSP.

I wanted a really big, showy embellishment for this page, so I took 10 punchies of retired Orchid Opulence cardstock using my Blossom Petals Punch and curled them with my Bone Folder to make this big flower, building it up with Mini Glue Dots.  I made a fancy center with my DSP and circle punchies of Orchid Opulence cardstock and accented the whole thing with a ton of pearls.

Harking back to the daffodils on the cover, I made pink ones for this layout - and they turned out so pretty!  For the first page I made a large photo mat of Certainly Celery on my base page of retired Orchid Opulence.  I try to make at least one very large mat in every album, as I find there is always that one huge family shot.  I clipped into the corners with my small heart punch and matted the punchouts with retired Shades of Spring Designer Series paper.  For my title box I chose an image from Apothecary Art stamped on Whisper White in retired Orchid Opulence Classic Ink and colored it in with Pretty in Pink, Certainly Celery, So Saffron and retired Orchid Opulence Stampin' Write Markers. I die cut it with the Apothecary Labels Framelits, and matted it on another label of so Saffron.  Using Versamark and Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and my heat tool, I heat embossed a butterfly from Papillon Potpourri and punched it out with the Butterfly Punch.  I like threes, so I added a trio of Pretty in Pink daffodils to finish the page.

For my second page, I used a second base of retired Orchid Opulence and added a Certainly Celery photo mat die cut with the largest Apothecary Labels framelit, and accented it with faux white gel pen stitching.  My journaling box is another image from Apothecary Art stamped on Whisper White in retired Orchid Opulence Classic Ink and die cut with an Apothecary Labels Framlit, again matted on another die cut of So Saffron.  Of course, I had to use another trio of Pretty in Pink daffodils and a heat embossed butterfly.  :)

Those of you who have seen one or two of my wedding albums might recognize this layout.  :)  It's one of my favorites, and I always manage to work it into every album!  I took mats of Certainly Celery and stamped the flourish image from Everything Eleanor in Certainly Celery Classic Ink on the diagonal, all the way across the whole two page layout.  I stamped the butterflies on Pretty in Pink, Very Vanilla, So Saffron and retired Orchid Opulence in contrasting inks using Papillon Potpourri and the matching Butterfly Punch.  So quick and easy!

My photo mats are retired Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper matted on retired Orchid Opulence cardstock.  I used an extra strip of Orchid Opulence with the ends nipped by the Designer Label Punch as my journaling box, accented with a few tiny pearls.

I don't remember where I first saw this layout design, but I think it might have been one of Jeanette Lynton's fab books?  Anyway, I just loved the way it seemed like a modern take on those great old library pockets that you used to see in books...remember when they would right your name on the card, and in a small town you knew who else had read the book recently...or not so recently?  But I digress.  :)

For my base page I used the retired Shades of Spring Designer Series paper and layered on strips of retired Orchid Opulence topped with squares of Certainly Celery for photos or journaling.  To get my butterflies and pearls element in, I stamped the butterflies from Kindness Matters in Chocolate Chip and used the strips of pearls to separate my photo boxes.  TIP! The three butterflies are actually a single stamp, side by side.  Whenever I get a stamp set like this, I always get it in Clear Mount.  Then I can simply cut them apart and use them individually!  If you cut them apart without doing any extra trimming, they will always remount side by side on a clear block and you have the original three-butterfly image, unharmed.  :)

For my top photo mats I used Pretty in Pink and added strips at each end of the back side of the same DSP as the background, and rounded the corners.  I covered the seam with retired Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon topped with retired Orchid Opulence Grosgrain Ribbon.  The top mats are So Saffron. 

For my central embellishments I used Orchid Opulence punchies from the Boho Blossoms Punch, and layered on a Vintage Faceted Designer Button with a Pearl in the middle.  To keep with the tag look, I added loops of Whisper White Bakers Twine and taped them in the back.

I really wanted the shadowing technique I learned from the amazing Erin Gonzales to be the focal point of this page, so I used a simple background of retired Orchid Opulence and layered on a fancy center.  I just love this buckle look!  It's easy to create - I started with torn strips of Pretty in Pink, and topped those with strips of my retired Shades of Spring DSP, which I punched with the Scallop Trim Border Punch.  My buckles are Chocolate Chip Cardstock cut with the Apothecary Accents Framelit. I simply cut them in half and added a Champagne Glimmer Brad to each half.

For the shadowing technique, I stamped the flower image from Mixed Bunch in Whisper White Craft Ink, and highlighted the outside edge with the (sadly!) retired VersaMarker.  The butterfly from Nature Walk is the same, except I wanted it to really stand out so I went over it with White Uni-Ball Signo Gel Pen. 

The ribbon is Pretty in Pink Scallop Dots Ribbon topped with Whisper White 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon.

November 4, 2012: Purple Wedding Album Pages 2 & 3

OK - I fixed yesterday's post as that was actually Page 1, and here is 2 & 3.  :)

I spent a lot of time on the background for this page, and I think it really came out beautifully.  I stamped retired Orchid Opulence cardstock with the retired French Filigree background stamp in retired Orchid Opulence Classic Ink, and layered on one of the great patterns from the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper Pack.  To cover the seam, I added Pretty in Pink cardstock, embossed with one of the Delicate Designs Edge Folders (it's a two pack!) and cut out with the Large Scallop Edgelit.  So easy, and it really looks like lace!

In keeping with my butterflies and pearls theme I added butterflies in Pretty in Pink and Certainly Celery using the Beautiful Wings Bigz Die and Beautiful Wings Embosslit.  For my largest butterfly, I also added a touch of texture using a retired texture plate, and my Certainly Celery butterfly is stamped in Crumb Cake with the Travel Journal Wheel.  A Subtles Button and Whisper White Baker's Twine finish off the large butterfly.

Scraps of retired Certainly Celery Striped Grosgrain Ribbon with Antique Brads make fun embellishments - I love symmetrical page elements!  The photo mats are Certainly Celery matted on So Saffron, and I clipped the corners with my favorite retired Ticket Punch to make room for a pearl at each corner.

Finally, I stamped the large label image from Everything Eleanor on Whisper White in So Saffron Classic Ink and fussy cut it out.

Finally getting back here!  It's been nuts.  :)

This is page 2 of my purple wedding album.  You may recall that my customer chose the retired Shades of Spring Designer Series paper?  This was, I thought, one of the prettiest patterns in the stack.  I fussy cut the pattern out, inked the edges just a tad with a Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write  Marker and matted it on a subtle polka dot pattern background sheet from the same DSP pack.  This is a great way to really show off a pattern - and still have enough left over for other pages.  :)

They don't show much in the picture, but I added pearls to accentuate the pattern of the "flower" and made a custom center on a 1" round Certainly Celery punchie by stamping one of the centers from Mixed Bunch in Chocolate Chip.

I chose to add only a "journaling box" in lieu of a formal title - that way, the bride can choose to use this as a wedding album or for any other occasion.  My photo mat is So Saffron matted on retired Orchid Opulence, and the journaling box, die cut from Apothecary Accents, is also Orchid Opulence.  A scrap of Certainly Celery Taffeta Ribbon, an Antique Brad and a bitsy little Pretty in Pink Butterfly die cut and embossed with the Beautiful Wings Embosslit finishes off this page.

October 22, 2012: Purple Wedding Album

 A couple months ago I got another wedding album on commission.  I love doing wedding albums!  The catch?  They wanted purple...and they were not a fan of any of the Designer Series Papers in Stampin' Up!'s current offerings.  My wedding albums are very DSP driven, and I didn't feel I had the time to recreate the wheel.  AND...the album itself was already chosen and needed to be matched.  So, I looked to one of my favorite retired paper packs - Shades of Spring from a Spring Occasions Mini a few years ago.  The purple color in the paper - Orchid Opulence - was retired, too, but thanks to be very supportive Late Night Stampers Group I was able to quickly amass enough DSP, Cardstock and ribbon to complete what turned out to be a very gorgeous album. I even found a screenshot of the original DSP catalog page!

 

Today I'm sharing just the cover.  I always jazz up my albums, so for this one I turned to a stylized daffodil.  Pulling colors from the DSP left what was (for me!) and unusual palette, so I really wanted to use the So Saffron for the centers of the flowers so the colors didn't seem so shocking.  :)  I saw these daffodils on one of my favorite blogs by Lyssa Griffin Zwolanek, Song of My Heart Stampers. 

This purple album (it's an 8x8, by the way) from a local craft store wasn't the same color as Stampin' Up!'s retired Orchid Opulence, but it was pretty close!

Oh...and that Filigree Brad?  Retired, but available on the Clearance Rack right now for a smoking good deal!

August 24, 2011: Purple & Orange Wedding Album Last Page

I always try to make the photo the most important thing on the last page of all my wedding albums, as well as stay true to whatever my theme is - in this case, handmade flower embellishments. :)

I chose my favorite pattern from the Sunny Garden DSP (now retired) and added a large photo mat of Wisteria Wonder on top of Pear Pizzazz.

For the hearts, I used the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslits Die on Peach Parfait Cardstock and added a Full Heart Punchie of Whisper White.

The flowers are from Language of Friendship in PEach Parfait Classic Ink on Peach Parfait cardstock, punched out with the Boho Blossoms Punch. I added a Basic Rhinestone in the middle of each for some pizzazz. :)

So that's it - I hope you enjoyed my purple and orange wedding album as much as the bride did!

August 22, 2011: Purple & Orange Wedding Album Pages 18 & 19

Winding down on this wedding album! For this layout I went slightly retro with room for lots of photos. I chose a base of Wisteria Wonder, and added photo mats of Peach Parfait accented with scraps of the Sunny Garden DSP (now retired). I also added some interest with the flowers from Established Elegance in Wisteria Wonder Classic Ink.

For my flowers I kept it simple with the Daisies #2 Die and the Big Shot, using Whisper White and Wisteria Wonder cardstock, with a Boho Blossoms Punchie of Peach Parfait in the middle.

To keep with the retro feel, I rounded the corners of my DSP and photo mats with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch. So much more sweeping and round than the Corner Rounder!

August 21, 2011: Purple & Orange Wedding Album Pages 16 & 17

NOTE: I think I got my page numbers a little off before. This is actually 16 & 17. :)

I fussed a lot with this layout, but I really like the finished pages. I started with the Whisper White panel in the middle, and heat embossed the Medallion Stamp in White Stampin' Embossing Powder and a Heat Tool, then Sponged over it in Peach Parfait Classic Ink. I cut it up the middle and added Wide Oval Punchies in Whisper White to each side. To hide the seams I added a strip of Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon, but to tone down the purple I glued a thin strip of the Sunny Garden DSP (now retired) down the middle of the ribbon.

For the side panels I added simple Whisper White photo mats on top of the Sunny Garden DSP, and then added my signature handmade flowers. For these, I chose to layer two flowers of Sunny Garden DSP punched with the Boho Blossoms Punch and added Pear Pizzazz In-Color Glimmer Brads to each one.

August 19, 2011: Purple & Orange Wedding Album Pages 14 & 15

This turned out to be one of my favorite layouts in the album. Hopefully you can enlarge the photo to see more of the detail. :)

I started with a base of Whisper White Cardstock, and I overlaid it with Lattice Bigz Die cuts also in Whisper White, using my Big Shot. The result was very textural and I really loved the look! Four die cuts fit nicely on each 8x8 page, with a clean border.

It was so beautiful I didn't really want to put ANYTHING on it! In the end, I added four photo mats of two different Sunny Garden DSP (now retired) patterns, and of course my handmade flowers. :) For these I chose to use the Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer Punch and Peach Parfait Cardstock, with stems of Pear Pizzazz. A few scraps of Wisteria Wonder Ruffled Ribbon and Concord Crush In-Color Glimmer Brads finished off my sweet little flowers.
