Pin It Now!
Every year, I make a handmade gift for each of our family groups. I always try to choose something that Jeff can have a part of as well, so this year we decided to do tile coasters. All members of both of our families are very outdoorsy, so that usually works for all. :)
Coasters are very simple to make. Just make sure you buy the unglazed tumbled marble tiles from your local hardware store - they usually come in a box of 9 for around $3. Wipe the dust off, and when dry stamp whatever images you like directly onto the tiles in Jet Black Staz-On Ink. That's it!
For my outdoorsy tiles, I used mostly retired Stampin' Up! sets - Fishin', Fly Fishing, Yukon, Wildlife, and Pines. the only current set I used is Lovely as a Tree; I love this set as it is so versatile!
The backs of the tiles are very rough, so we bought 1/4" thick cork tiles, which Jeff cut into squares and we glued on the back. As a stack of four tied with twine and embellished with a store bought ornament and a handmade tag, they made a very elegant, finished gift.
