April 30, 2012: Blended Roses

Pin It Now!
Artist I am not, y'all, but sometimes fine tools - like fine feathers - can make all of us look pretty amazing!  I often hear complaints that Stampin' Up! does not sell alcohol-based markers like the Copics.  I say, who needs them anyway?!?!  I made these three GORGEOUS roses without any contraband help!

For the first rose, I stamped this lovely image from Fifth Avenue Floral (retiring...boo hoo!) in Jet Black Staz-On on Watercolor Paper.  Then I very simply colored in the darker areas with a Regal Rose Stampin' Write Marker one petal at a time, and smoothed and blended the color out over the whole petal.  A touch of Daffodil Delight Stampin' Write marker in the middle added a little extra color.

For the second, I used the same image and the same watercolor paper, but used Versamark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder.  It doesn't look like it, but I used the same Regal Rose Stampin' Write marker, too.  Much softer and very shabby!

For the final rose I tried something a little different.  I used the Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder with the Versamark on Watercolor Paper. and used a Real Red Stampin' Write Marker very sparingly, with more Daffodil Delight in the middle.  Really showy in person!

So there you have it - no fancy shmancy alcohol markers needed.  :)
