July 12, 2012: Wedding Shadow Box

Made this for one of my classes - so much fun! Amazing wedding gift, too. :) I used the now-retired French Filigree background stamp and Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder to heat emboss the subtle background, and topped it with amazing handmade flowers. Dazzling Diamonds on the largest flowers ties the whole thing together. :)

March 19, 2012: Another Shadow Box

Another shadow box. :) I used some of the last scraps of Timeless Portrait DSP for the roses, but I was out of Island Indigo Cardstock so I substituted Not Quite Navy. Turned out Not Quite Bad. :D
The Medallion stamp in White Embossing Powder is such a wow - it looks like it has a lot more dimension than it really does. Such a pretty shadow box!

January 20, 2012: Shadow Box Door Prize

This is the door prize I made for my last workshop - just something fun and bright for these snowy winter days. :)
I did use some Clearance Rack products on it - the ribbon is still available, and I've linked it below, but I noticed today that the fabric brads were gone. :(
However, the brads I used for the flowers inside the shadow box are actually not available yet - they will be available on January 24 for Sale-a-Bration!

December 12, 2011: Wedding Shadow Box

This came out so pretty! I needed a wedding gift, and I love to give handmade - it just seems like the gift of time spent is the most precious thing I can offer.
As I always do, I checked the bride's registry and it seemed that everything she registered for was white and silver - very elegant and serene. So that became my theme for this creation. I used the pewter embossing powder for the Hello Doily stamp, and paired that with Whisper White and Brushed Silver Cardstock. Only the frame and the heart rhinestone is non-Stampin' Up!...it's the center of a button I've had forever in my button jar.

This is the last of the shadow boxes from a few months ago - the Cherry Cobbler option. To match the Timeless Portrait Designer Series Paper, I offered the shadow box project in Basic Black, Island Indigo or Cherry Cobbler. I think this is the last one to share. :)

August 17, 2011: Fair Projects & Class

My fair projects are in! I'm so excited - not a lot of them - only around a dozen (I forgot to count, of course) - but some fun ones. I even was able to borrow back this shadow box! Last year I won a whole $7 dollars. This year I am shooting for $10! ;-D
I have one slot left in my Shadow Box Class on Saturday if you want to come! We will be making a shadow box similar to this one, but a lot more dramatic with HEAT EMBOSSING!!! I cannot wait, and my sample is a real showstopper. :)

This 8x8 shadow box was the door prize I made for my June Class. I think it turned out really well and I was very pleased with it! I used scraps and leftovers from my last wedding album.
The shadow box itself is an inexpensive one from my local craft store - I love the little rope detail on the front. I often do shadowboxes in the 8x8 size - they are just plain fun. I usually purchase either an 8 x 8 or a 10x10 shadow box - the 10x10 gives a "floating" effect.
For my page (and the wedding album!) I chose the now retired Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper, and used Crumb Cake and Baja Breeze cardstock. The seam binding ribbon is also Baja Breeze.
The carnations are made using the 2 3/8" and the 1 3/4" Scallop Circle Punches, crumpled up and held in the middle with a Brad. The roses are cut with the Fun Flowers XL Bigz Die and hand formed.
Shadow boxes are great since you can really go to town on embellishments - you are not limited to what can fit in a page protector!
