August 26, 2010: Snow, Snow and More Snow

Pin It Now! Although this past winter we had 0 inches of snow (the real reason for that is I bought hubby a snowblower for this past winter!), the previous two winters were HEAVY snow years. Everything was drifts for what seemed like months. We even had a couple snow days at work; days that, after spending two to the hours digging out the roads still were not passable in town.

Our home is at the very end of a cul de sac, so our property is shaped like a piece of pie. After we and the neighbors shoveled snow onto the narrow wedges of lawn between the driveways, the drifts were almost 10' tall. Worst, the snowplows would plow the snow from the cul de sac into a ginormous snowbank at the end of our driveway as much as 4' deep and 6' wide. Digging through that often took most of the morning!

Despite the brand new, expensive snowblower languishing unused in the garage, this past winter was a nice reprieve. I was able to take some wonderful snow pictures as evidenced by this layout.
