January 29, 2011: Early Easter Card

Pin It Now!
I'm really proud of this card, since it is entirely MY DESIGN. I can't often say that! The colors are Whisper White, Marina Mist and Night of Navy, and the stamp set is Thoughts and Prayers.

The cross is what I am most pleased about. I took Stampin' Up!'s exclusive Lattice Die and used it to cut a sheet of fun foam backed with sticky sheet. I then cut off several of the sections to make a cross and mounted it on a discarded CD case. Now I have my own custom stamp!

I used the stamp with Versamark and clear embossing powder to make a clear cross, and sponged over the image with Marina Mist. The clear embossed area resists the ink (ironically, this technique is called ink resist) to make the image.

The ticket corner punch is what adds that fun detail to the corners. It's an easy way of adding just a touch more color and interest.

Although I intended this as an Easter card, I think it would be equally appropriate as a sympathy card, or really any occasion where a Christian card would be appreciated.
