May 8, 2011: Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Pin It Now!
Today is the day to celebrate one of my very best friends...my Mom. :) So just a quick post today then I have to go call her on the phone.

As promised, here is the last of the Easter hats - the Sew Suite one from the now-retired spring Occasions Mini. I thought this suite was so incredibly cute, but I think the mini had so many great things this collection got a little overlooked. Oh, well - I still love it! And, per my usual M.O., I may be hoarding some of those amazing fabric covered brads. :)

This was the only hat that I used the 1/4" grosgrain for the band and the 5/8" grosgrain for the bow - the rest I twisted the wider ribbon to a cord for the band and had double tails. Although I really like the double tails, using the thinner ribbon flat for the band was a much cleaner look.

It's hard to see, but I also used the 5 Petal Punch twice to make the flower. I love the 10 petal look!

Several people have asked what I used for the circle on top of my Easter hats. I was pleased to find that the containers sold by Stampin' Up! are exactly 2 1/2" - how perfect is that? You could certainly use the Circle Scissor Plus; that would make perfect 2 1/2" circles, or you could use the largest circle on the Circles #2 Die (I have and love both). Either of those are great options, but I used my 2 1/2" punch. It isn't shown in the big catalog, but is still available as a carry over item on my website HERE.

That's it - make sure you honor your mom today!
